I was looking @ the data for the weather forecast near Christmas and it is showing a major ice storm for Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee (among others).
For the Indianapolis area the forecast is for an inch of freezing rain. For the southern portion of the state, that total is almost two inches.
If (and that's a big IF this far out) this verifies, we are looking @ long term power outages and impassable roads.

That's still a long time out, hopefully something changes. If not, there will be a lot of accidents, because people WILL try to travel on those days regardless.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if this winter is worse than last, but this isn't saying much. I didn't get to ice fish last year.

I didn't have to fire up the snow blower last year. I'd like for that trend to continue.

I bought a snow blower the summer before last winter and still has not been used. We did start it up last month. It's ready!

In 1995 I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4wd while living in Cleveland, OH (as in snow on the ground from Nov to Apr). Easiest winter in decades. I took the credit.......

Which weather site you looking at. I can only get 10 days by next Friday it is 60 here The local mets get into pretty detailed info around here. I also check accuweather and weather.com for their opinions on upcoming weather. The 10 day forecasts will be coming into play over the next day or two. The models will flip flop several times over the next few days (as will the forecast), but they are still showing a turn towards colder weather with an area of freezing rain setting up where the cold and warmth collide. Where exactly will that be? That's the million dollar question. Hopefully this system turns into a non-event (and it may for the northern half of Indiana), but those of us south of Indy to the Ohio river may find themselves dealing with snow, sleet, freezing rain and/or rain over the Christmas weekend. Point being...it's weather. It does change over time, but I just wanted to give the members here a heads up on what could be coming down the pike. Many of us travel (or have family coming in) during this time and it's better to be weather aware than not IMO.
