Probably over 15 years ago, my wife and I salvaged this tent from some people that had camped next to us and got it all muddy from the rain and storms during that night. When they were packing up to leave the next morning they were just gonna dump the tent in the trash after their one use! So, we brought it home and cleaned it up real good and set her out to dry. Then we stored it away through all these years. It turns out that my youngest son in Virginia is soon to do their first camping trip with their 2 daughters but they need a tent. So my wife and I got the tent out this evening and set her up. Good as new:

Heck of a nice score!
I dont dumpster dive, but I have been known to get my fair share of "free" items left at end of driveways. I have been cooking on a super nice Kenmore stainless grille for 2 yrs that a neighbor put out. Recently got a nice wheel barrow that had a flat tire too. Turned out the valve core was loose.
Probably why my dad calls me Sanford and son sometimes. Lol

I routinely find lawnmowers at the curb in the spring, and snowblowers at the curb after the first snowfall.
Most of the time it's because folks store them with unstabilized gas and the carbs are gummed up and they won't run well or won't run at all.
I obtained my current mower and snowblower this way. Both were fixed within 30 minutes with a can of carb cleaner spray. Next door neighbor put the snowblower out, said Santa had brought him a new one. I improved it by adding rubber tabs to the impeller. It throws snow better than his new blower.

Matter of fact the mower my son has now in Virginia was found in the same manner. Only problem I could find was something looking like a mouse nest had completely clogged the air filter and box. A few minutes of cleaning and she ran like a top.

I have a garage full of freebies and fixer upper stuff my current tent was a similar situation except someone left it at a bowling alley after a birthday party and never called back for it so the attendant let me have it.
