But I might be deer hunting the first day of season looking for a decoration item. Basically a "throw" for the couch. There's a fawn running around here that still has it's spots..... Gotta check to make sure it's legal, but if it walks by I will be aiming for a spot.

If its brown, its down. Nothing illegal there. If its ethical or not is the question. Lol. Just kidding, I say shoot away!

I respect someone that can harvest a young or small deer without making excuses to justify it. Everyone has their reasons for an animal they choose to harvest. There is no shame in being honest with yourself and others should not judge you for honesty.

I saw a fawn pelt in a gun store display years ago. It was very cool. The guy said it was a roadkill fawn.
Good luck

If you just want the hide, I'll be more than glad to take the meat.

Go for it, could wind up being roadkill. I've seen several over the past two months it picked up almost like it was the rut, not including the several does and one velvet buck that had been hit.

Thanks guys. There are pictures of 4 others that just have barely a few spots left. This one looks like an axiz deer. Beermaker, the meat will go in the freezer, I'm more of a meat hunter than a trophy hunter. Nothing will be wasted!

If it is a doe it wouldn't be bred this year anyway so if you take that deer instead of a mature doe you're potentially helping the population.

Really tender meat I hear. My wife shot her first deer (fawn) and really soft meat.

Really tender meat I hear. My wife shot her first deer (fawn) and really soft meat. I shot a yearling a couple of years ago. It had a large gash across its back that looked like a broadhead wound. A few months later I grilled some venison steaks and thought, "wow this is tender". I got up from the table and looked at the date on the package and realized it was from the yearling.

I'm a meat hunter and I know in a steak house veel or baby cow (spelling) prob isn't cheap. Eat like kings!

I saw a ML shooting bag made from unborn fawn. Guy said it came from a roadkill doe. He had the hooves on it too. Pretty cool and EXPEN$IVE too. It should be easy to carry out too.

If it's a doe I wouldn't be surprised if it was bred in January. Guess I should've said "maybe it would not have been bred". Isn't it roughly only 25% of fawns are bred the first year?

Doesn't P me off, but definitely seems a little twisted. I couldn't do it.

Well, maybe by the time I actually get time to hunt the spots may be gone. Too dang busy with work.
