It has been a few years since I moved my hang on and I had thought last week I should move it as most of the deer I see use a specific path. This morning one of the bucks I would shoot walked that path so my laziness bit me. I climbed down this morning and had breakfast with the family then went back to pull down and move my stand....man am I fat old and out of shape!
Took me much longer than expected. Oh well. Good day out suvking up fresh air!

I needed a beer or 3 after the move. May explain why I had so much trouble moving stands.

I don't use hang-on stands simply because I don't trust myself to get in and out safely. If I set a ladder stand and can get 2-3 years of productive use from it, I'm not moving it. Just change the ratchet straps every other year. For me, it's not worth the time and physical toll to move one.

The buck I killed this year was shot from a ladder stand I went to move, but instead I just hunted the stand and was going to move it in the dark once the hunt was over....but I got interrupted. I moved the stand the next day. Nothing I hate more than when you see deer using a trail and you know you need to move but for some reason you don't and it jumps up and really bites you in the butt. I will admit that the older I get the more I prefer a ladder stand. The 2 person ones can be a bigger task to move and put up....but the singles are not near the headache. Putting up hang-on's with the climbing sticks and the like can be a physical workout as times.
