The one with the 1" dia fruit. It's growing wild, Central Starke County. Pic taken 9-6-2019 Sandy soil, at the edge of the woods. Definately not an apple, at least not any that I've ever seen. BUT the fruit is green, not red. I believe that is a Big Tooth Aspen growing at the bottom of the frame.

Maybe a Hawthorn tree or as some call it a Redhaw tree? ? The fruit will turn red when ripe. Not to good to eat but make good ammo for slingshots.

That's exactly what I was thinking, I guess I will have to wait and see if the fruit turns color. It's pretty bitter now.............. Yes I DID try one. LOL

Does the tree have spikes all over it? I'll be back there either tomorrow or Monday and I'll look. I know where you are going with it.
