I heard that story shortly after it happened and I was confused as well. Only guess is it grazed the fathers head and then actually struck the child. Unfortunate event no matter what.

Lifelined the dad to Louisville so doubtful it was a grazing wound. Something just don't seem right here but never know.

Yeah, don't know where I got Louisville. Swore I read that. Makes a bit more sense as far as the lifeline then. Sure father was riding along then.

How does a modern handgun discharge when dropped? It does not say what kind of gun it was but I thought those made in the last 20 years or so had features built in that would prevent discharge when dropped. There are probably failures, I know my LCP was recalled for this. It is still a tragedy no matter how it happened.

I've got a million questions about this too, but I'd be willing to bet we will never know. Was it in a holster? (I doubt it) Like you said, what type of gun? Safety on or off? I could keep going but you know what I mean.

Yeah.... I was surprised, they say weapon has been sent off to be tested for any defects that may have caused it to fire unexpectedly.

On another board the it was said the only way it could have fired is one of these 2 things happened. 1) Someone physically removed the Firing Pin Channel Block (the gun could fire if dropped if that was removed). 2) The center blade was depressed AND the trigger moved 1/2". Glocks have 1/2" travel before firing.
