This was growing in the older spoils of a pond that I was at yesterday. Spoils are at least 5 years old, mostly shaded area, clayey soil. The plant in the foreground with a big leaf and the flower stalk. This is from Mishawaka, Indiana

Almost looks like some kind of burdock. There's an app called PlantSnap that will take a picture of a plant and try to identify it. The chances of it being correct are about 50/50.

The leaves are much wider than that of the common burdock, and there is only one leaf on the plant, at the most 2 when it shoots up the flowering spike. Here is an image of a burdock plant.

Looks like weed I would spray with Cornerstone or 24-D.

It looks like a butterbur for sure, probably common butterbur, (petasites hybridus) Note the flower. Not 100% sure though.
