Going through some hunting pictures of my dad and I, I remember one season in 81 we were hunting muzzleloader season in Perry county on a small 60 acre woods I bought. It was cold as heck and I hadn’t hunted for the last 4 years as I just got out of the military. I used a old homemade baker style climber and set up in the morning. Around 7ish I saw a few deer working they’re way off to my side. A nice buck was in the group and I shot him at about 75 yards. When I shot the woods came alive and there were deer running everywhere. I bet there were close to fifty all sizes bucks and does. I never saw the other’s till I shot. As luck would have it a few ran where my dad was setup and he killed a nice buck. First time I ever saw that many at once and have never seen it again.

Bill9068, I hunt in Perry County as well and yes, back in the day 80's and early 90's a person could see a lot of deer when out hunting, now days and for the last 15 years or so. I am lucky to see maybe 20 deer in the whole year. If I see a doe and 2 fawns come through I hardly ever see another group of deer the same sit. I know people think I whine and cry a lot on here but I tell ya hunting a pressured county like Perry is way different then hunting other places. I have read on here where people have seen up to 50 deer in one sit. Unreal....Only in my dreams.

I hear ya. Back in the 80s a disease came through and just about took everything. We found a dozen dead one’s I remember one summer. From then on it’s been like you say maybe 20 a year.
