This was discussed on the Marlin Owners forum. There will be no new permits to import ammo from Russia. Ammo in the pipeline that have permits issued will continue. Eventually those sources will be fulfilled and if there are no permits the ammo will dry up. As I understand it these permits are issued for a certain number of a spefiac caliber and from a listed manufacture. I do not know if you can transfer your permit to someone else.
I think there will be another rush to buy the Russian ammo and all that goes with it.

The US gets a lot of it's cheap ammo from many other countries than Russia. So it's really not stopping anything. I'm sure some other country will pick up the slack from the stoppage of Russian steel cased ammo into the US.
