Just curious how many people on here hunt without cameras? I have a property I use them on and one I do not. I kinda like seeing a deer for the first time in person on stand. I understand if you use them, no judgement, the older I get my surprises are far and few between and it’s just a preference.

Camera use by me is mostly for inventory purposes prior to season and post season. I might run a couple during season , just to monitor daytime movement. I use cams with SD cards not cellular.

Quit using several years ago. Just took the fun/mystery/excitement outta it for me. But I have been regressing in hunting equipment used. Going back to simpler times. Much happier and doesn’t seem like a job/chore anymore.

I think everyones situations are different. Me personally , I hunt almost exclusivily my 125 acre farm and a neighboring 80 acre lease, I work with 2 other adjoining neighbors (255 acres) and together we manage our properties for mature bucks. (4.5 and older), so it is very important to know what bucks we have , ages of bucks, which bucks we are targeting, and which bucks we are protecting. Cameras help immenselly in the process. Its alot of fun watching different bucks grow over the years and knowing what bucks are in area. Doesn't always work out, and on occasion we lose a few bucks to other landowners in area , but thats ok too, as these are wild deer.

Camera’s save more deer then they kill IMO!

Camera’s save more deer then they kill IMO! I agree... Get a truly "big 'un" on camera and sometimes we start to give passes to deer we would have otherwise shot. .

To each their own, but I enjoy watching what shows up during the hunt instead of waiting for one particular buck that might show (or never show) himself again.
Good buck, lousy buck, or no buck, it's more fun for me that way.
Am I a fan of cameras? Not their use during the season, but it's legal and more power to anyone who chooses to run them during the season or the entire year.

Personally, I usually run 2 or 3 cameras for 7 or 8 months a year. That being said, I typically do not shoot my buck where I have the cameras. Just never seems to work out that way. LOL

I do not run cameras. Not saying I wouldn't I just choose not to. There are 3 areas that I hunt (maybe a 4th) that would be interesting to do so but I do love the surprise I get when I first see them.

Cameras here are used more for dealers than deer. I did put one out back in the woods after Dusty got his buck to watch for trespassers. I ended up getting a picture of the buck I shot a week later. That was the first time I shot a deer that I got pictures of the same year.

Some but very little more just to see what’s around but I don’t target a buck unless it’s something huge around here few and far between I also got so involved in deer hunting and every new idea to kill one it was a job and honestly I didn’t enjoy hunting like I do now looking back.
Went back to what I enjoy sitting in a stand with my bow watching the birds tree rats bunnies ducks geese fly and taking what I’m given maybe I got old maybe I don’t care anymore I’ve killed my fair share of deer
I think it really changed me when I started helping kids get their first deer seeing the joy it brought them

I’ve only ever killed one we had on camera and it’s the biggest one on the wall. I think it’s fun just to see what’s out there in the area, but don’t get my hopes high to kill one I see on cam. But then again, if the big one from last year shows up on our cams again this year he should be a giant and it’ll be hard not to try and wait him out for a bit at least. That’s how the cams save other bucks from getting killed.

I'm getting ready to put out 3 just to see what's around.

I run cameras mostly during the season to see what's hanging around. I've never used them to locate deer though I don't have anything against the idea.
I'm kind of like you. I don't want to know every deer before I see it. Part of the magic of deer hunting is the mystery of what's coming over the next hill.

I don’t run cameras. Don’t have anything against them, but don’t like to give money away. It seems that a lot of them get taken around our area and the handicapped lady is the only person that could keep an eye out. I like the surprise of whatever shows up, and if it tickles my fancy that day then it gets a ride in the truck.

I (we) do normally have some cams out. Last season, we did not have any out due to time constraints, and my push not to. I thought it was fun to just hunt old school. I am not real picky anyway, pretty much any mature buck is good enough to ride home with me. Give me that, and a couple does, and its happy camping season. 😉

I run them year around for multiple reasons not just for hunting. I have some fishing holes I keep an eye on & it keeps everyone honest. I get pictures of bobcats, deer , Turkey, quail, owls coyotes, neighbor , skunks , squirrels, dogs, wood duck & an occasional Eagle . I enjoy all of it as I can’t be there all the time yet, but I’m getting closer as there is only 32 Mondays left to go 😊

While I may not shoot anything of size, I at least like to know what is out there and want to know what to hopefully expect.
