Today I planted my first ever fall food plot. I worked the soil and planted. What do you guys think? It was easier than I thought it would be.

I think that’ll take root and explode with enough rain. Get ready for all the deer to head your way.

Truth is, it will probably work. Some curious deer will sniff at it and you’ll shoot it. I don’t have time to mess with food plots at this point with 4 kids and all they are involved in, gimme about 5 years and then we’ll see. Just got done mowing the trails this evening, just in time for next weekends youth season. I know, about a month later than usual.

I was always told to oversees the plot. A truckload or 2 is about right. This time of year the pests will get some of the seed, germination is iffy, and if you get more sprout you can thin them at that point.
I also like to mix a cover crop with fruit trees. Corn, sunflower and wheat. They cover the ground nice and bring nutrients to your saplings.
Bottom line, nice start. You will get better
