The Bluegills are all males. Not sure on the Redear Sunfish. That Yellow Perch is a baby, maybe 2-3 years old. I thought redear were only supposed to spawn once a year? Caught three of the redear off beds in 3' - 5' of water. No eggs in anything today.

On the water at 0730. Off due to storms at 0840. Biggest was 12.5. Smallest kept was 10 inches. Was going to be stellar but we gave up with the storm

Caught three of the redear off beds in 3' - 5' of water. No eggs in anything today. That is correct. BUT if there isn't enough suitable spawning habitat for all the Redear Sunfish (RES) in a Body of Water (BOW) then the next month during the full moon cycle the RES that didn't spawn the previous month will spawn that month, and so on down the line until they all spawned. Same with Bluegill (BG) they will spawn roughly a week prior to a full moon any month that the water temp is above 72°F and if they haven't spawned earlier that year. Ditto for Hybrid Bluegills.

Luke and I hit the St Joe River again this morning. We ran way up and fished some deeper water my dad and I used to hit. We found 2 pockets of nice bluegill and pumpkin seedsin 13ft. After throwing back about 5-6, we decided to keep some for the table. Good decision as it paid off with a nice catch.

The next time you do that, let me know that you are catching Pseeds. I need some and I'll come up and pick them up. I'll take all you catch. They look pretty good sized!!

Several 8-9", and they were slabs. We always catch them in same spot, something is in there they like. Same thing on Corey Lake in Jones, MI. Got one spot we always catch them at.

They will go in the smallest pond in Knox for now.

Fished with a buddy this spring and he had these really cool anchor winches on his boat. I've been looking and finally found some. Abbie and I will be ready for bobber fishing now!

Don't ever pull your boat down the road with your anchor(s) hanging, always put them in the boat.

Don't ever pull your boat down the road with your anchor(s) hanging, always put them in the boat. I've got double shackles. One will stay on the anchor and the other gets disconnected and fastened to the pulley frame when I head back for the boat ramp. I'm even going to pull the anchors inside the boat anytime while running the outboard.

I left the anchor attached but in the boat and it moved enough in an hour drive to bend one of the brackets with the pulley.

I left the anchor attached but in the boat and it moved enough in an hour drive to bend one of the brackets with the pulley. They'll be dropped down in the storage hatches and not left to freely roam around motoring from spot to spot. When I am done anchoring for the day, the top shackle will be undone and the anchors put in the same hatches without the 3/16th anchor line attached. I couldn't use the anchor pulleys and frames that were included with the winches because I would have had to add aluminum plates to the places I wanted the pulleys as the frame mounts had too large of footprints to mount anywhere on my boat. A mounting plate would have had to extend out off the front of the boat to work there and would have to extend back into the boat on the rear corner to be able to use the ones that came with the winches.

Fished with a buddy this spring and he had these really cool anchor winches on his boat. I've been looking and finally found some. Abbie and I will be ready for bobber fishing now! I pulled 2 electric winches off my boat. If you ever get tired of manual winch, the electric were pretty nice...just not for me. Think they were rated for a 25 pound anchor too. I don't hardly anchor so just ate up floor space.

Water has cooled down a bit. So it’s fish fry season. Six inch blade in pic.
