Turkey season is up next, so I’m starting to pin my maps for scouting spots. I’ve never scouted before, so just wondering what YOU do it. I’m not even sure there ARE turkeys where I’m trying to go, so any tips would help!

Scout late March or early April. Where they are now won't be where they are in the spring.

As others have stated, it's too soon for scouting turkeys for the spring.
That being said, I would get my cameras out mid March. A couple weeks before season opens I like to glass in the evenings/morning from safe distances. It's ok to get in your blind or sit up against a tree. I have done that a time or too as well. I do not call to them or anything when scouting. Two or three days before the opener, I get out there at sunrise and sunset and listen for gobbling.

I didn’t mean scouting right now, I’m just looking forward to the next season and was hoping to get a plan together now.

Big woods, as long as not thick undergrowth it should hold birds as long as the area has a population. Woods/ag mix look on field edges for tracks. Longer middle toe tells you it's a gobbler. Equal size a hen. Like said before, where they are now isn't necessarily where they will be in April. With that said, in general, you find them now you'll find them in april.

What county are you hunting Trail cam's are great to use to scout too. Birds where I hunt disappear every October then boom Mid March they are back. Tracks, scratches, droppings(male and female are different) Makes me ready for spring break to head to Bama to the club to hunt.

I walked in on a flock last year in heavy timber in Morgan Monroe. I hunted every day last year and never heard a single gobble, so this year I’m going to take it a little more seriously. Henry will be half ag. Last year Henry county only harvested 13 I think, so I’ll have to try that much harder

As others have said, do your scouting in March, they are typically really fired up at that time, gobbling almost every morning for long periods of time. Get out there before sunup and listen

You might also put in for some Turkey hunts since Henry has such low numbers.

I just bought a 6-pack of 3-H "HOT HEN in HEAT", I am going to start putting some around the farm by putting it on a KOTEX and hanging it from low bushes because I don't want folks to see that I am using it.

Anyone have any tips/website of what to look for and how easy it is to spot? I've always just hunted land over run by gobblers, but may hunt public in Tennessee this spring.

Easiest are scratches and foot prints in the roads. Go out couple mornings before season and listen. If public have several spots you can go and get there early.

Lost my best turkey spot yesterday. The lady’s son-in-law wants to hunt there now out of the blue. I’ll be scouting some other spots, but my confidence in this season just hit zero….
