Never been. Been eyeing the dam fishing behind Barkley and KY Lakes and a nice Jan day got my wife, daughter and I mHoosier. For a fast trip. Pretty sure I will make the trip again. About 3 hours away for me 1 way so about as far as I want to drive for a day of fishing. Maybe take a long weekend down there when the lake is more inviting. No pics of the bison but we saw them too. I know the forest service claims these guys are wild...not buying it! Still cool for a hoosier. My daughter was really into the elk. Saw a ton of turkey and deer on the trip. Nice country down there.

We've been down there a few times, last May being the most recent. Never have fished, have done about everything else down there though. Fun place.
BTW, "The Pond" restaurant on the west side of that area is a great place to eat!

Making my first trip down there in June. My friend's grandfather has a house in Kuttawa, KY. right off the water.

It’s been a long time ago but I have deer (archery) and Turkey (gun) hunted at LBL. At that time it was by drawing.
I killed a couple gobblers down there and one fallow buck that another hunter claimed. The trouble with those hunts was the numbers of hunters there. If you didn’t make “didn’t go 20” archery shot chances or it might get shot a second time and claimed..

Two inch thick pork chops and “mile high pie”!

I've been fishing at KY Lake twice and would not go again unless a guide or a local was along.

I've been fishing at KY Lake twice and would not go again unless a guide or a local was along. Why? It's obviously big and can be overwhelming. I'm speaking from crappie fishing experiences. My group went two years without guides and caught just enough to eat one year and we had to grocery shop the other. Some of the group went another time with guides and caught their respective limits every day by lunch. If I'm going to pay for the trip, I'll be willing to pay a bit more to improve my chances of catching fish. Just my opinion.

When going with a guide or local mark where the fish are on your phone for future reference!
