I asked it a series of questions and asked it to write a song.
I asked it what would have happened had Napoleon abandoned the Continental System and left Russia alone in 1806. In about six seconds it laid out a few plausible scenarios. Very fast and very well written.
I asked it who would win in a battle between Caesar's famed Legio X and a similarly experienced legion from the much later Byzantine ( Eastern Roman) Empire. As I expected, it punted, describing differing equipment and tactics, and demurring on who might win. Still absolutely correct as far as details, and fast.
I asked it to write a song about Pizza in the style of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Again, in six or seven seconds it pumped out a southern rock pizza anthem. Nothing special but pretty good for a computer.
It was asked to define freedom in the style of Ben Shapiro an Joseph Stalin. It nailed both in seconds.
I asked it how history would change if I went back in time 100 years and swatted 100,000 malarial mosquitos in a major urban center. I was relieved when it, in my opinion, blew this one. This would of course change history, by affecting who survived to reproduce. This effect would exponentially increase the farther back in time you went. Chat GPT concluded there would be no effect. AI can only regurgitate what is already known & discussed, and isn't really good with hypothetical scenarios. ( Thank God)
It failed once- unexpectedly-- when I asked it to define Time Dilation, a concept in physics relating to the difference in the elapsed time between two clocks. ( like when they are sent in opposite directions by plane for instance). That, I would think, would be easily searchable. I got an error message.
It's impressive, but it's not Skynet- not yet.
Still, how long before AI is used to scour the net for politically incorrect posts when you apply for a job? ( more efficiently than it already is)
How many jobs will it eliminate? How will it be abused?
I can tell you one thing-- all-purpose writers at news outlets are out of business. You won't need a human to write concise copy on anything.
