Well, I can tell you one thing. Yellow Jackets aren't that territorial. I was mowing some tall grass/weeds today with the garden tractor (no cab on it) and in a single strip (54" wide deck) about 150 feet long I ran over not one, not two but 3 nests of Yellow Jackets.
Luckily my lightening fast reflexes only allowed me to get lit up by one of the boogers. I felt them on my head and a few on my arms, and I was able to swipe them off before I got nailed, but I DID get nailed on the heel of the right hand and it HURTS!
I went and mixed up some spray and doused the area. I'll try again to clear that area tomorrow.

Spray WD-40 down the hole after dark. That will stop them.

I mixed up a poultice of meat tenderizer and took a benadryl. The hand is itchy where it gpt nailed, so it's starting to heal up already. A while back I read where the meat tenderizer neutralizes the poison. It worked on bee stings and I guess it works on the yellow jacket stings too.

Disturbed a nest unknowingly about two weeks ago. Walked away and felt one get my left shoulder. Then knocked a couple off my jeans. Looked where I moved a small tree and they were swarming. Went back a week later to try and pinpoint their location for some payback but couldn’t find it. Will try again because I don’t forget easily and yes I’m looking for a little revenge 😁. May have to burn half the forest down to get them. Not sure yet.

Came across a nice, round hole in the ground with a lot of critters going in & out. About 8 oz of gas down the hole, and haven't seen 'em since.
Don't like to pour such in the ground, but like getting stung even less.

We always used baking soda paste back in the day….. MUD was the cureall for stings back in my day. Usually proceded with a dose of Bactine. Kind of surprised Mom did not use Paragoric on it.

I had a local pest control guy come out for $75 to take care of the ones under my deck. Some of the best money I have ever spent.

If I recall correctly Earl Wells one of the ones that brought the Ft Wayne Childerns to where it is was killed by bee stings while mowing. Sad day for sure.
Mom's mud always seemed to work.

I take care of a few yellow jackets nest in August the last couple years. I get a lot of calls thinking they have honeybees. This time of year it's close to 100% yellow jacket calls. I have the PPE equipment so no big deal.
