What a stud! Terry and Mark have both forgot more about deer and deer hunting than I'll ever know!

The comments on that article are disgusting. True…but it’s expected on a non hunting news outlet (yahoo) IMO

Amazing buck! I know these guys regularly shoot big deer but the smiles on their faces says this one may just take the cake. Read through some of the comments... Plenty of "haters" but I was surprised to see only a few that were truly against hunting. Most seemed to support free range hunting, but jumped on the bandwagon and assumed this deer was a high fence farm deer. I know there has been controversy about this for multiple celebrity hunters. Agh. Sure, some of them really may have done it, but others like the Drurys, I don't think so. Those who assumed this was a high fence buck and that these guys don't know a lot about the deer should go watch some of their videos. I've watched them before and these guys really are some of the most knowledgeable hunters I can think of who put a lot of time and effort into management and everything else. They literally talk about that stuff all the time in their videos.

They always kill giants, but that one is exceptional. Deer hunting is literally a science to that family. They do things right that’s for sure.

Those guys have set themselves up some "deer paradise" properties in areas with good genetics that produce big deer, given enough time and nutrition. The actual harvest of the animal is peanuts compared to the amount of effort they put in preparing these properties.

What is nuts is everyone talks about the Drury brothers, and it is justified. Higgins on smaller farms in statistically harder states to do it in has a 220, 206 and 214 grossing B&Cs.....
There are some incredible hunters but if you asked me to give you a list of three I'd want all their knowledge instantly if transferrable it'd be Don Higgins, Dan Infalt and probably one of the Drury brothers. Just incredible hunters

Like the Drury fellas (well much smaller degree and not in same part of country) he's created and manages strictly for world class deer. It's crazy impressive.

I've read a lot of articles written by Don Higgins and he's taken some impressive bucks. If you are interested in reading some of those articles, just google Don Higgins hunting articles and you'll find plenty to read. He also has a website... higginsoutdoors.com

I know Smokey and Mel were off his, but I don't believe the first 200 was. You can see his top 5 here: www.whitetailmasteracademy.com/

Don's podcast called Chasing Giants with Don Higgins is one of the better deer hunting casts out there I think. There are a lot I like, and his is one of them.

Definitely a correlation in areas with superior fertile soil. But agree takes some of all three, with genetics being #1.
