This year I've been using my electronic hearing protection in the tree stand for gun season.
I CAN HEAR THE SQUIRRELS IN THE LEAVES AGAIN! All the way from the next ridge if I choose to turn it up.
One down side, I found testing it a little in late archery, it is easy to convince yourself every single gun shot is coming from "just barely out of your sight somehow".

I have hearing aids but they do not buffer loud noises such as gun shots, so I don’t wear them hunting gun season.

One down side, I found testing it a little in late archery, it is easy to convince yourself every single gun shot is coming from "just barely out of your sight somehow". I used a walker ear plug with electronic aids. They are way too uncomfortable for me but was nice to use on quiet mornings. Any wind and the wind and leaves was no good for me I've had inside the ear plugs with electronics but they were not even close to this. I never even tried it with any of the previous electronic protection devices I've had. These are Vanquish from Champion. The same people with traps and clay targets and they are muffs. They are so good you have to put them on and turn them on and off a few times to believe they are working. If you set the sound to the same level it sounds like with out them, it is easy to think they aren't even doing anything but then if you turn them OFF they are more quiet than any muffs I've ever worn any where. Plus they have kept working twice as long as all three of the previous brands I've owned over the years and they still feel and seem just like new. These LOOK like mine and I think that may even be the same place I bought mine or it might have been from an NRA special. www.opticsplanet.com/champion-traps-and-targets-champion-electronic-nonoslim-elite-blue-tooth-muffs-2.html?utm_source=connexity&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=connexity_pla&utm_term=1144f2972308186faa8197ce54bc5529&cnxclid=1144f2972308186faa8197ce54bc5529&msclkid=1144f2972308186faa8197ce54bc5529

It's good to have these options as father time tightens his grip!

I have hearing aids but they do not buffer loud noises such as gun shots, so I don’t wear them hunting gun season. Hearing aids will magnify any noise including a gun shot... big time. Taking the hearing aids out is good, but your hearing is unprotected. Shooting a gun with unprotected hearing WILL make it worse, guaranteed.. One BANG can do it. Believe me - once its gone, its gone. I wear electronic muffs when shooting or gun hunting religiously. I had a lot of trouble with Walkers. Threw them in the trash. I have a pair of Peltors now and like them a lot. I wore them for 6 hours this morning. Get some protection Bill.. You'll than me later.

On really loud guns I will wear ear plugs and electronic muffs. For hunting I really like the electronic muffs. But since I took possession of my suppressors I don't need to wear hearing protection. I shot a doe this evening @ about 140 yards (in the neck as she was looking at me, right under her chin) and the rest of the deer in the field didn't even care that I shot since she took a deep sleep as soon as the bullet hit her. She didn't run or even take a step. So, none of the other deer were alarmed. I could have shot another if I wanted to clean two deer tonight.

HUHH? I bought a pair of Walkers for hearing range commands. They work great at the range. Indoors I can hear the slide cycle on my 1911. They are not directional though. I wore them turkey hunting and heard more Gobbles than I have for years. My problem with Turkey hunting was I could gobbles and know a general distance but not direction.

Thanks. I am going to look into these. Do you lose directionally with these? Other than the depth perception you described?

Does anyone have any experience with the Walker Razor electronic ear muffs? I'm looking for something for rabbit hunting and if I ever get on some geese. Thanks

I shoot a lot of competition skeet and sporting clays, As well as long range rifles. I use this brand and have never once had an issue in the 2 pairs that I have. proears.com/product/pro-tac-sc-gold/

I've always worn earplugs in the past. Do ear muffs affect cheek weld for rifle or shotgun shooting? Thanks

Thanks. I am going to look into these. Do you lose directionally with these? Other than the depth perception you described? No you do not lose ANYTHING other than the loud bang of the gun. I've been using them for EVERY TYPE of hunt since posting. Walking, stalking, sitting, quiet times and with the constant hum of a high way and several hours of my closest neighbor mowing grass for HOURS. Then I looked and couldn't tell he cut a blade of grass, it must have been NEXT neighbor over past him. I can sit in the tree and hear the plane come over and go on past and the sound tracks his movement perfectly and hear and spot a squirrel on the ground instantly both at once. You can adjust the volume up and down with out taking them off to suit what ever your needs are. I've owned and used cheaper electronic muffs and a pair of pretty expensive plugs. They NEVER lasted, they all broke and they all had the problems already mentioned in the thread. I've owned the ones I've got for SEVERAL YEARS NOW and they are still like new far as I can tell. Mine are old enough they use two AA batteries, instead of the three AAA battery I saw in the link above for new ones. IF these broke today, I'd buy the nearest thing to them I could find tomorrow. Only down side it the same as apply to any muff type protection. I wear these OVER my orange hat and I got a big, XL, head so they got at least that much adjustment. YES mine are directional and I can pick out different directions at the same time with them.

If hearing protection muffs bother you, I'd say TRY WHAT EVER you are looking at first before buying them. The only bother for me is I HEAR that click when they touch it but it doesn't prevent a cheek weld for me. JUst when they touch together is like a clunk or something. My rifle stock is one of those hollow plastic, but I filled it with foam. I'm going to look for some kind of rubber over lay or something to muffle that clank I hear when they bump. It doesn't sound loud to anyone but me.

Had to get special ordered fb helmet and baseball hat in highschool! Lots of brains...smooth as glass.

Had to get special ordered fb helmet and baseball hat in highschool! Lots of brains...smooth as glass. I'm not trying to say there aren't better ones out there or better styles. I'm just saying I went through 3 purchases of about $50-$75 dollar things over the last 4-5 years because they were just good enough to really want them to work. I was only considering for hearing protection, dealing with training, and students and being a student on ranges. They were just good enough to hope "this really works this time" and they did "work" and then they quit/broke, soon as the warrantee expired. And they were not directional at all. Then I just swore them off, feeling like I was just getting ripped off and I'd live with muffs and plugs. I'm pretty sure I saw these in an NRA promotion and thought the "sale price" seemed fair and I'd give "electronics" one more try. "May be they are better now". I'm satisfied now unless these break.
