I've enjoyed a lot of hunts on public ground, a lot of work no doubt about that, some hunts were boogered but it's just part of it. Glad I'm healthy enough to keep doing it.p

Good read and like I stated last week. Opening gun Saturday evening is one of my top best part of hunting. I also like the pre-prep work and scouting the land. Even though I hunt the same land the last 38 years I learn something new every time I go out and scout the area. I think a lot of hunters miss the part of getting together per or post hunting. Even it's just two of you getting together.

With Abbie busy this time of year with basketball, I have hoped the last 4 years that I can get in and get done quickly. I also hope that when she is out of sports (may do it at college, too) that I can go back to being able to enjoy the days that I sit out and don't see deer and not feel rushed to get something in the freezer.
Sat a total of 4.5 hours for my two deer; actually closer to 4 hours. Sat with Abbie once for 3 hours one afternoon and could have taken a deer, but it was her hunt and not mine.

This year has been a shift from dad duties to more of doing what I want. Wife typically works Friday and Saturday, oldest is off to school, youngest has a driver's license, job, sports, girlfriend so I don't see him much and he doesn't need much. Left plenty of time to relax and enjoy deer hunting, it has been enjoyable. I hunt how I want and very little outside pressure on when.
