Butt hurt liberals were scraping those off as soon as they were put on around here. Don’t act like people are happy about our current economy!!! Also let’s not forget we’re heading into an election year so naturally things will look appealing to those that can’t see through the BS.

Guess they forgot all the stay-at-home money is what was driving wages up since they had to pay more to get people to abandon the handouts.

I saw a thing on FB where the grocery list from "home alone was $19 and change back then, last year it was $43, this year it was $73. So things will have to come down a LOT more to just go back to the way things were just a year ago let alone 3 years ago.

Still funny, I don't care who you are!
All economic indicators are good right now. Will they stay that way? Who knows? The real problem is the deficit and the debt, which have continued to skyrocket through several administrations. If something doesn't change we are moving toward disaster.
All kidding aside, Presidents have little control over gas prices. Never have, never will. But its take credit when the price is low, blame the other guy when the price is high...

I would agree with that except this administration is at war with fossil fuels. His first day he shut down a huge pipeline and has been anti fossil fuel ever since with this “new green deal”. He has sold out to the “environmentalists” and is pumping our tax dollars in another “solar panel” company thst has multiple consumer complaints against it. Sounds like more rewarding Democrat contributors

The world supply is way way down. China is close to bankruptcy. Advantech, a 2 billion company best profits came from China and USA. Both around 30-40%. Basically, 60-80% of sales. Over the last 10 year is flipped many times whos best. The last two years China dropped 30% each year. It's now 5 or 6 down on the list. Europe is also down a lot. USA was -10.1 this year. Only Japan was up 4% this year. Russia was flat. All other world countries down. With my position I get to see all financial reports. We just had our end of year meetings yesterday. I was glad I didn't have to fly to Irvine, California.
Even the middle East countries are down. They can't sell the oil.

Cutting off pipeline permits and cutting back on oil leasing, then when forced to sell leases the leases are revoked shortly after the sale does not give me the feeling that "the president has no control over gas prices". When a president tells you that "I will cut fossil fuel generated electricity by 100% by 2030 and cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030" that tells the oil and gas companies that they will see their market cut by over 50%, aren't the companies going to make all the money that they can now and raise prices so the general public will be peed off at the president so he doesn't get elected the next term? If you talk to any new housing construction contractor, or any other industry that is tied to the new housing market, you will see that the industry has seen a 30+% drop in business in the last 6 months. The trickle down effect hasn't shown up yet in other industries except RV's. Take a look at their new vehicle sales this year vs. the previous 5 years. That is anohter indicator on where the economy is headed.

I just had this conversation with my old college roommate this morning. When I asked him how the price of groceries, gas/oil, vehicles, lending interest rates, home insurance, and the USA credit ratings were today vs 2019, all I heard was crickets.
I would like to see a show of hands on who is applauding the fiscal state of this country today. AND if a person agrees that they are better off fically today than in 2018-2019, what changed to make their standing better?

Unless they are willing to empty the strategic petroleum reserves to cure low poll numbers. This thread reminds me of a lesson Stalin was giving on population control as he grabbed a chicken and plucked all its feathers while it was still alive. Then he threw a few grains of rice on the ground and it went back to eating pecking them off the ground. Then he said "people are a lot like that chicken".

Huge raise, but I would be retired just now or June if it wasn't so bad of an economy the last 3 years. The USA and world was just starting to roll with no wars, no striking, no empty shelves and record low food hand outs (EBT).

I'm MAKING more, but they're TAKING more; and what with inflation, i'm hurting more, every time i go to the grocery store. I got lucky when my truck crapped out- i was able to get a much more fuel efficient car. But thats about the only good news i can report. Bidenomics? You can miss me with that crap. All the beltway swamp beasts and coastal critters keep insisting the economy's doing great, never better! But i'd bet not many of them fill up their OWN gas tanks, or actually go grocery shopping instead of Ubering everywhere and getting food from doordash. So, no...i'm NOT doing better than 4 years ago.

I didnt say no control, I said little control.
Here are some observations:
The oil produced monthly in the US by the oil companies just set a new record.
Oil (and gas) are international commodities traded on world markets, and the price is influenced by many factors.
The CEO's of major oil companies don't sit around thinking about how to make your gas cheaper- they think about profits and the stock price. They will make us pay as much as we are willing to tolerate. EXXONMOBIL is not your friend.
The oil companies are sitting on tons of leases now. This administration could easily open up more, but even then they can't make the companies explore them. Many companies are using their record profits to buy back stock and pay dividends instead of exploring because of investor pressure.
There are more new liquefied natural gas terminals under construction or planning right now for - guess what - the increased export of natural gas.
Oil companies in the US both import and export at the same time.
Biden was dead wrong to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and he wasn't the only one.
Petroleum discoveries continue to be made, but many are deep and expensive to find and extract.
All that said, I would like to see more areas opened for exploration. I went to college for geology and am an investor in the petroleum industry. Just don't expect the oil companies to act in YOUR best interest, unless you are a shareholder.
