Just a FYI for everyone that has a freezer that is different than your fridge/freezer in the house. Check it regularly and maybe get a high temp sensor alarm that sends a signal to your phone. I haven't had to go into the chest freezer for a while and when I opened it up last night I knew I was in trouble when water ran off the lid on the inside. I quickly felt the meat and while it was thawed out, it was still ice cold. The only thing that saved my bacon was that the freezer was in the unheated garage and it has been cold out. If it was summertime it would be a huge ugly stinking mess. I looked and the GFCI on the wall had tripped for some reason. I pushed the reset and it reset and the freezer started working again. I put a thermometer between two thawed vac packed pork loins. After an hour I checked it and it was registering 26 degrees. I did some deeper digging (the freezer is about 23 cubic feet and it was pretty durn full) and the meat further down still had ice crystals in the center). So, I think I dodged a HUGE bullet. I absolutely hate GFCI's. I know they probably have a place (like a bathroom) but this one is already in the trash can and has been replaced by a regular outlet. There were no power outages, nothing unusual happen electricity wise that I can remember. I'm now looking into alarms and found this: www.amazon.com/MOCREO-Temperature-Waterproof-External-Refrigerator/dp/B09QM4P4VPDoes anybody have any experience using something similar or the same thing? With the price of meat today I think this is cheap insurance.

My 20 year old upright freezer has a built in alarm. It went off one time when the door didn’t get closed all the way and the temperature dropped far enough to set it off.

Get rid of the GFCI receptacle, GFCI's and motors don't play well together.

Ours is a LaCrosse brand. Works great and does all that the one you cited does but I do not remember the price. It does start to build up some ice where the wire goes into the door no matter how tight you have it but isn’t a problem. We did have another style that didn’t have the probe wire but the sending unit inside the freezer held the battery and no matter what kind of battery I tried they didn’t last but about a month.
I did a quick search and I don’t even see our model available anymore. It is about 10 years old though.
