The Following never happened. There was recently a meeting at a totally hypothetical workplace that began with the assistant manager coming up to the employee with a grave expression and saying, "I'm going to have Bob take over for you after lunch. You have to go to the conference room and meet with a couple of HR people from Indianapolis. Oh, don't worry, you aren't in any trouble." The employee walked into the room where a too-friendly guy with a notepad and a woman typing on a laptop were already seated. First question: "Does management ever make any comments about race or gender?" Other questions: Is there any problem with bad language? Do YOU use bad language? How do you feel about your managers? How do you feel about co-worker A? B? C? Specifics? DO you feel there are any problems here? ( all the while the woman typed away on her laptop } Our hypothetical employee used his experience with such corporate types to plant all the right seeds. The hypothetical employee in our story was later informed that the company received a good rating. Are these ( totally hypothetical ) meetings a thing now? YIKES.

I've never had a meeting like that. I'm glad I get to work alone all day.

Oh yeah Sas! This DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) is a huge deal in most companies these days. I wish I had a dollar for all of the emails I’ve had to read, videos I’ve had to watch, and modules I’ve had to navigate. I work for a ~$15 billion Company with some 50,000 employees and sometimes I think corporate is more concerned about “cisgender” detail than growing sales and making a profit!

A world full of snowflakes and pansies. Cant open your mouth without trouble. How about we all just get to work and do our job without worry about who is saying what? Luckily, everybody gets a trophy nowadays. 🙄

Never had a 1 on 1 meeting. Plenty of emails and obligatory mentions in the big meetings.
My guess there was a person who complained and they are doing the investigation. In my opinion those types of investigations are harmless for most. But a great opportunity for mgmt to cut ties if an employee is on the chopping block.

For those of us in (or retired from ) the military this crap is very old news. By the early 2000s we were subjected to probably at least 40 hours a year of "training" , instruction, direction and blaming. It is involved in every aspect of military life...from assignment availability, to ridiculous PT standard differences (which are part of promotion packets) to actual promotions.....on and on. Great example, my career field starts with less than 20% initial enlistees being female....wanna guess what the % of female E9/SGMs is? Somewhere between 60-70% annually. One of the best parts of retiring and receiving my blue ID card is that now I can speak the truth without fear of the threatened repercussions for doing so.....

You should have seen anlther fictional place of employment before a fictional epidemic. WAAAAAAYYYY over the top, gave out fancy things like drink tumblers, shirts, sweatshirts, you name it. Some fictional employees never wore or used such giveaways because they promoted "diversity and inclusion". One fictional employee has no problem with what race or color others are or what they do behind closed doors but doesn't want to celebrate what some might do behind closed doors. There's a lot to not like about all that, getting things pushed on you or anyone is not cool.

Working for the government this stuff is in our face all the time, but I really try not to pay attention to it and it’s the first time I’ve seen the DEI acronym and I live in a world of acronyms.

I worked for the State in management positions for years. We got our share too. In one training session on minority set-asides for construction contracts, after being shown how many bids were won by non-minority contractors, the following statement was made - "Don't you think you should share?"
Anyone in the heavy construction industry knows that the WBE/MBE/DBE program is the biggest scam ever devised.

My wife showed me a sexual harassment video she had to watch as a federal employee and it cracked me up. It compared sexual harassment to a cup of tea.

I never had to do a one on one meeting but the last company I worked for started a big DEI initiative about a year or so before I left. I'm sure it had something to do with them being based in Minneapolis. There's not a ton of women or non-White people in my field but I don't think corporations are going to fix it. The fix needs to start at a younger, school type level.

A good friend of mine, who is a devout Christian, recently left a very good job due to this crap. He simply refused to go to the woke training sessions.
I'm not certain if he left voluntarily or was fired. I guess he will tell me if he wants to.

Yeah, it's mandatory nowadays for about any good-sized company if not their just opening the door to lose any lawsuit filed against them.
Many places require the documentation just to bid on jobs.

We have several black and foreign customers. Some talk jive and some are civilized. We all razz each other and work just great together. A few of them were the biggest voices of concern and disappointment to our company when all our turmoil started. Good to have friends.
