Well the mudslinging has started. Braun going for governor is taking hits on his voting record, Jim Banks stepping out of his House position to run for Braun's Senate seat, a flock of new guys trying for Bank's old job. Politics as usual.

Too bad Young is not in a primary race. Just like Pence, if not endorsing Trump, who is he backing? I emailed Young's office and told them to stop sending me emails and told them why. "opinion" writers in the Star, aka as left wing liberals, are already attacking Braun. No surprise. |

Young is a generic politician, saw him speak at an economic forum. Stuck to the generic card of answers with nothing of substance. When people in the crowd asked questions (legitimate questions) he danced like Fred Astaire.
Disappointing.
And Braun, please no to Braun, the guy is in it for a paycheck.

Long gone are the days where the legislators were citizen legislators that supported themselves and all they got from the government was a per diem. It now takes a ton of money to win an election and keep their place of power. |

What really whizzes me off is the Republican reps that are resigning now. They keep that up they will turn the house control over to the Dems.
Unless it’s a medical emergency they should stick it out to finish the term they campaigned and signed up for. No doubt a more lucrative offer came up,

I didn't hear much mudslinging when my family and I went to a local Republican dinner Sunday evening for a Meet The Candidates. Braun was there, Banks had a representative there, lots of local leaders, as well as a number of other gubernatorial and state candidates. Only candidate I think I was persuaded not to vote for was our local state rep, Sharon Negele. She spent most of her two minutes boasting about her experience in the state house rather than addressing major issues like pretty much everyone else did. Practically everyone was saying they wanna fight MSG, the LEAP project, and the water steal. Also the guy running for our Congressional district, Bruckwalter, gave an incredible short speech, one of the best I've heard in a forever. He seems very firy and a go-getter. We may back him in the upcoming primary. I wasn't persuaded for any of the gubernatorial candidates. Nearly all of them had strong arguments and positions, and pretty much everyone except maybe for Suzanna Crouch took a combative stance on all the same major issues.
Todd Rokita was the guest speaker for the evening. He addressed a decent number of topics. He made sure to address a number of issues Curtis Hill started that he resolved, I think especially because Hill was one of the gubernatorial candidates attending the dinner. I had no clue how intelligent Rokita is. And funny. He made the room laugh a good number of times.
