I bought a set of 265/75/r18 Mastercraft tires from a local dealer about 16 months ago. They have around 20,000?? miles on them, one has a broken belt. Is it worth trying to get it warrantied? I have never tried this before.

I would definitely take it back to them for at least a look. We have had tires replaced under warranty before and on some had to pay a little and others were free.

Took wifes SUV to show them cracking on the sidewalls after 2 years old. They prorated them and gave me 60% off a new set. He even asked if that was satisfactory and I agreed, plus got the mounting and balancing free. So I will continue to do business with them.

I use Discount Tire and bought the extended warranty. Over the years they've replaced 6 tires, all at no cost to me plus mounted and balanced them. My cost was the extended warranty - it's good until the tire tread is down to the wear bars.

I have had the same experience with Discount Tire. Just do not plug them as that voids the warranty.
