As I'm sure some of you remember reading, I sent my shotgun barrel to Curtis Wilbanks in Georgia to have it back bored and forcing cone lengthened. He told me, before I even sent it that he WOULD have it back to me by April 21. Well it's now May 5 and still no barrel! I borrowed a buddies 11-87 to hunt with last week. I have called him 5 times, never got an answer. Left a voicemail telling him to contact me right away, no answer. Sent him 4 emails, no replies. Avoid this guy at all cost! He had good references, NRA magazine even did an article on him, and great prices. And before anyone says it, yes, he DID receive my barrel because I have the email telling me he received it. I was so excited to hunt with my "new" turkey gun, and even tho I didn't get a shot, he still ruined that for me. Here is his website, AVOID it! www.guncustomizing.com Well, I finally received my barrel on Saturday. Only a MONTH late! There was no "thanks for your business", or "sorry for the delay", just a scribbled note on the letter I sent him saying, "barrel is .735 now", that's it. Not a very bright or appreciative business man. The barrel is like a mirror inside, so I'm excited to shoot it! I'll repost after I do. Thanks to everyone that offered advice in this matter.

I hope nothing other than bad service is the blame.
I just bought a new bike from a Harley dealership. Part of the deal was diffeent pipes. Well it sounds like crap and no one seems to care. Customer service is a thing of the past.

Nope not a word! Yeah that's what I'm afraid I'll have to do. It's a shame that there are people out there like that.

Email might be a business only computer, phone for used guns is probably a shop number also. Since you know where in Ga you sent your barrel try running a person search and see if you can find a home phone number and place a personal call to his house. Just in case something catastrophic happened, stroke, heart attack, etc. If you can not get any satisfaction thru this method then contact a friendly lawyer. Good luck.

Its a shot in the dark, but it beats paying a lawyer. I also agree with indianahick, he could be going through some personal health or family issues right now. A good businessman would have a contingency plan for something like that though...

Decatur, I am sorry to hear about your experience with that Gunsmith in Georgia. You might contact the Better Business Bureau in his area. Hope you get your shotgun barrel back soon!

What a shame-it`s pitiful that you aren`t going to have your gun to turkey hunt at all with this season. Sorry to hear that.
And I heard a salesman say years ago, that on average, if someone is satisfied with your service, they may tell 10 people about it-if they`re dissatisfied with your service, they`ll tell 25 people about it.
Thanks for warning everyone here.

Thank you all for the advice, and the person search. I think I will try the certified letter first. I also think something may have happened to him or his family, because at first we were emailing back and forth, then all of the sudden I can't get a hold of him. Thanks again guys.

Be sure and let us know what happens, it would be too bad if it was something out of his control and his name/reputation got dished for an unjust reason.

The guy must not appreciate his customers, or I should say former customers.

I feel your pain, I sent my Coonan .357 to Dan Coonan to have some work done. It took 8 months and more phone call than I care to count to get it back.

It amazes me that people like that can stay in business.
