I’d say just take your rain gear, go down there, and have some fun. You’ll learn a little about the lake and how to fish it and come back with more experience than you started. As long as it’s not a big lightning storm the tournament will go on. If you want to really blow your expectations out of the water just join the newest trend and shove a bunch of weights down any keepers you catch! Only kidding. Have fun with it. Rain gear is packed and I have a change of clothes for afterwards. Really looking forward to fishing a new spot and the new experience! My only expectation is be stress free. I hear Patoka can be tough to fish. That's coming from the locals.....up here....4 hours north...lol! My biggest concern is finding a good place to eat when we get down there this afternoon. Lol!

Trust me you guys will have your heads handed to you on a platter. Ok, I guess I don't know what that means. Lol! We have zero expectations on winning this thing. Just looking for a fun experience.

Looking at the weather down there for tomorrow, looks a little stormy. What is the usual rules on that for a tournament? Fish at your own risk? Reschedule the tournament?

A friend of mine is trying to get into more bass tournaments. He asked me to go with him to the Tony Bennett Bass Bash down on Patoka Lake tomorrow. I assured him that I'm not a great angler and if he really wanting to win or rank high he should call someone else. But, if he's just looking for someone to go along and have fun then I'm all in. Lol!
I booked us a VRBO place just outside of Birdseye for tonight. It's a little over a 4 hour drive and I don't want to do that tomorrow morning.
I'm leaving work at 11 and he's picking me up around 12:30 or 1 to head down there.
We've neither one fished Patoka Lake before so this will be a new experience for us both.

My daughter took this picture of a smoke phase hen in Cades Cove. They are beautiful birds. About the only turkey I would mount would be a nice sized smoke phase gobbler. I’ve never seen one, but we do get some red phase birds from time to time I have one full mount tom in half strut. I will never pay for another one unless it's a smoke phase.

Sort of live from the turkey woods... I saw something pretty cool this afternoon at work. I was on a long hike across a field at work to retrieve some surveillance equipment. I rounded the corner of a freshly planted field and 200 yards up there was a few turkeys. One smoke phased hen dusting herself. They bolted for the woods before I could even get my phone out but, she left some feathers in the dust bowl. I had never seen one before.

It didn't take my buddy long. He struck a bird immediately and had him down an hour later. Gobbled and strutted the whole way through the woods he said.

I moved spots towards where birds usually roost. Set up, called and not five minutes passed and a coyote comes out of the woods, into the pipeline, and stalking the decoys. He won’t be doing that any more. Always willing to take out one of those critter gitters. Outstanding!

I really wish I was live from the turkey woods! Daphne decided she's not interested in going. I have a friend who lost his piece earlier this year so I told him (consent from both land owners of course) he could head on out to my spot and give it ago.

You're doing a great job with your kids Dave! Kudos to you and them!
I see a lot of folks on here doing great things with/for their kids and over the years, it's been a pleasure to see how the kids have been molded and shaped into great young adults.

My wife has a 2008 Chrysler Aspen, 4wd with a 5.7 Hemi. It doesn't get driven much at all. She noticed the brakes scrubbing the other day on her way home. She parked it and hadn't driven it since. I tried changing all the brake pads today. The pads weren't too bad and the rotors were just fine. However, the calipers were horrendous on the front end. After making another run into AutoZone for replacements, I got them swapped out without issue. I was unable to get the rear tires off. I actually broke two impact socket adapters trying to get the lugs off. I guess the guys that put the new tires on used their big boy impacts to put the lugs and center caps back on. Out of the 10 screws that hold the center caps on, only 4 of them were not snapped. I'll finish the rear after work tomorrow. Here's a pic of one of the front calipers...

After an extremely frustrating day changing brakes on my wife's Aspen, it's nice to relax and watch the turkeys sound off behind the house. Fuzzy photo. I was too lazy to get my better camera.

It's an increasingly Godless world where right is wrong and wrong is right.
The far left just expects us to embrace the mental illness that's being spewed out constantly.
