Been nice sitting on the back porch watching turkeys strut and listening to them gobble behind the house this morning. Feels like a great morning to be out.

Here's the answer A more Godly focused nation (world) A return of family values Actual accountability for criminals A return of a national identity Great start for sure! And this is a mental health issue for sure. They'll definitely find the means to kill others without the firearms. It is getting a little tiring seeing all the shootings but, my mind goes straight to the mental health crisis. Not enough hospitals or doctors for those suffering. Too much social media. People are judging their own self worth based on how many "likes" or "followers" they have. Etc. Etc. It just feels like people are putting so much pressure on themselves and creating so much anxiety. People need to learn to love more and hate less.

Only had two opportunities to get out this year. This morning was my last chance. I took this Jake 6 minutes after sunrise. It was a fun hunt and I’m glad I was able to fill my tag. He weighed 15 lbs. Congratulations!

I have a tom strutting about 200 yards away. Hopefully I can entice him to come over here. Good luck! I hope you get a shot at him!

I use the concentrate from TSC. It was roughly $40 after I bought the spray bottle. I will be able to mix about 20, 20oz bottles.
Walmart has Sawyers permethrin (good stuff) but it's $43 for two 24oz bottles.
Definitely money ahead by mixing it yourself and it works. I mixed my own for the first time last year and Daphne and I had zero ticks on us. Although my season was short this year, I was still set up in knee high grass. I had my blind and all my gear (except my gloves and face mask) sprayed down. Zero ticks.

We have been slowly dragging our feet on everything. I have been waiting to make sure my new employer was gonna work out right before I signed on the dotted line. Sounds like things are moving along, so I picked up the check today. Truck is now getting detailed so will be on the road next week. Next project is getting the old truck cleaned up to sell. Same guy I'm buying from has somebody interested in it already, for way more than I expected it to bring. Fingers crossed on that deal too. Congratulations sir!

Sorry, I wish I could help you. I'm from the NW part of the State and have no experience in those areas.
I wish you the best of luck! 🦃🔫

He only weighed 17.8 lb. 10-in beard and like half inch spurs. I haven't measured them. Not one pellet in the meat. I must have hit him with like one pellet. Congratulations!!!

Almost live from the turkey woods... Might actually get to go Friday or Saturday or both! So popped up the blind and doused it inside and out with permethrin and sprayed my clothes and Abbie's in case I can talk her into going along. Bought a spare tank for my Ryobi weed sprayer and it is now a permethrin tank. So easy and the material gets soaked! And yes, I sprayed the blind bag, too. 😁 I do the same thing! I don't usually spray my blind until it's up though (private ground). I spray the grass around and inside my blind as well, including the chairs. I hate ticks! Lol

Sorry to read this Larry! I cannot stand a thief. I hope they catch them. Perhaps some of the neighbors have some ring, or other types of cameras that captured the ne'er-do-well(s).

Got to my spot and there was a truck in the field. I thought oh no someone else is hunting. Few minutes later they get in the truck and looked like they had a bag of mushrooms. One of them had a full red shirt on. I would never walk in the woods with a red shirt on right now. They field was planted the evening before season. Is it harmless to drive in the field if the crops aren't up yet? I have no idea if they have permission. Owner is an investor and leases the farming rights but I know who farms it. That's one of the fastest things that'll get me booted off the farm behind my house, driving in the field after he's planted. Big no no on that farm. I would never dream of doing that anyhow.

The turkey God's finally shined on me today. First off I would like to thank God for the ability to be able to hunt these bird and I kept having faith I would come across a bird. I went to an area this morning that I heard a bird yesterday gobble on the roost. It was really windy this morning so it was hard to hear. I finally heard a gobble and set up about 100 yrds away. He only gobbled on the roost a few times. He went silent for about 25 minutes. I finally seen two birds fly down towards the open field corner where I have a blind. After about 30 minutes of nothing I decided to sneek up to my blind in the corner of the field. I climbed in my blind and seen 2 birds about 300 yrs out in the open planted bean field. They strutted around for awhile and I could barely hear them gobble since it was so windy. The funniest thing then happened. Across the field a coyote came out and started to go towards the turkeys. I then thought, well this hunt is over. The turkeys then started runnuing toward the coyote. The coyote then headed straight for me pulling the turkeys in tow. The coyote got about 10 yards from my blind and then ran to the left corner of the field. The turkeys then headed toward where the coyote went into the woods. They were about 50 yards out and I let the biggest one have a headache with Winchester Longbeard XR #6's. Truly Lucky!!!! Never had a coyote help me kill a turkey. 24lbs 1 inch spur 1 inch spur 10 inch beard Score of 64 rayman wallpaperGreat story! Congratulations on a fine bird as well!

Daphne got me an awesome book for our 24th. "Make Your Bed" by Admiral William H. McRaven. I thoroughly enjoy reading books of this nature that speak of leadership, motivation and inspiration. Daphne happened to remember me mentioning this book as one I was wanting to add to my library.
Great way to end my three day weekend. Good book in one hand and an old fashioned in the other. Weather wasn't great this weekend but Daph and I still made the most of it and had a great time.
