Hello Fella Hunters..
I made a visit to my hunting area today. I placed two more portable treestands and relocated my pop-up ground blind and the area really looks GOOD.
There is a really tremendous acorn crop and the trails shows lots of activity. It does look much different with all the heavy cover but I am VERY optimistic for the 2005 seasons.
We saw 6 deer that were moving along the creekbottom and they were very much unaware of our presence there. I have hunted this same area for maybe 16 years now and the deer ALWAYS travel along the creek and I have one of my treestands hanging there ready for the right situation to occur.
Hope everyone else is getting ready to go and everyone has a SAFE and SUCCESSFUL SEASON.

Sounds good...I am somewhat optimistic but it could be better. I feel as though I still need to locate better areas...

My hunting area still is showing plenty of big deer activity, but I am going to have to make some adjustmets as the season progresses due to the selective cut timber harvest the landowner had done 2 mos. ago. The deer have been forced to reroute some of their main travel arteries due to downed tree tops. But, the good thing is that deer are taking advantage of the tree tops for thick bedding cover that are closer to their typical rutting & breeding areas which were not timbered.
