Is there a specific distance from the road that you must be while deer hunting?

No, but keep in mind that you must not use a motorized conveyance (vehicle) to aid in the taking of game. If you are out driving around and you see a deer on property you have permission to hunt, you CANNOT stop the truck, step off the road and blast the deer. We pinched a guy 2 years ago for doing just this. He hired a lawyer and lost the case in court. By definition, that is hunting with the aid of a motorized conveyance, and is ILLEGAL.
