CO's First off, thank you for the service to our state. Is hunting from an ATV legal? In the area I hunt, recently there have been 2 guys on four wheelers patrolling all the small wood lots. I haven't actually seen them shoot anything from the ATV's however, I did see them set up in a tree line, setting on the ATV's with firearms rested on shooting sticks. We have seen them several times doing this. Thanks, Fuzzy
THANK YOU icowinchell

Fuzzy, Thank you for your comments. The only time hunting from an ATV would be legal is if a hunter applies for a handicap permit to hunt from an ATV. This only allows the hunter to sit on and shoot from the vehicle if it is stationary. It allows them to use an ATV to travel to a hunting area, park it and use it as a "blind". The firearms would have to be unloaded and in a case or unloaded with a trigger lock while in motion. Otherwise the situation you described would be illegal. Please notify the C.O. in your county of this acivity. I would also like to encourage all hunters to contact us of illegal activity that you know about. I always hear from hunters that "I just figured that you were too busy, so I did not call" or "You should have been here last week I saw this guy with two bucks and....". Please call the TIP hot line at 1800- TIP-IDNR or 1-800-847-4367. You guys are our eyes and ears.
Thanks ICO Winchell
