I was hunting on the HNF the other night and I noticed that a neighbor had posted no tresspassing signs on public property as much as 100 + yards from his property line. I did not check the entire property but given the size of the "error" and the size of the property, I estimate that he posted 3-5 acres of HNF property. Could this be considered hunter harassment if he refused to return his signs to the correct location? Who should I contact to get this issue resolved?

Mbogo,
I would contact the US Forest Service and tell them of the problem. I would also double check with them to see if this is the case that the property lines are where you think they are. You may also aproach the landowner and find out where the property line actually is and let him know you have contacted the Forest Service. There are forest service offices at Tell City and at Bedford. I do not know the telephone numbers but they will be listed. I would have to know more facts, but if would be extremely difficult to prove that the landowner did this intentionally to harrass hunters. You may also want to contact the Conservation Officer in you area and ask for his or her input on the situation. They probably do not know that this is taking place. Our indianapolis telephone number is 317.232.4010. ICO Winchell
