I'm a senior at the University of Illinois, studying fish and wildlife conservation. I'm from central Illinois, and after graduation, I hope to become a conservation police officer somewhere in the midwest, preferably Indiana or Illinois. I'd love to find a job right out of college, but the way things in Illinois are right now, it looks bleak, so I'm looking around neighboring states...On the DNR website, it gives an address for interested people to send so they can get their name on the Recruit Applicant File. Are you aware of an upcoming exam or new recruit class? I'd appreciate any information/suggestions that you may have on the hiring process that may not be listed on the website.
Thanks, -Dan

We just put on a class of new officers. It will probably be another 2-3 yrs. before we have another class. Just make sure that you get your name on file for notification. The only advise that I have is for you to remain physically fit between now and when the next hiring process starts. You MUST be in good shape .....if you expect to make it through our school! Previous law enforcement / military experience is always good. Good Luck.............you want a job that most folks would die for... so be prepared for some competition.
