I have a 8 foot jon boat that was given to me, that I plan on making into a lay out blind. If I use this to haul decoys in and lay in it with a small blind for shallow water hunting does this boat need numbers and a reg?

There are several factors that involve whether or not your boat needs registered. Without having additional information from you it is hard to give you a good answer. The best advise that I have for you is to contact your local officer, tell him what you are wanting to do with your boat, and where you are wanting to do it....ie. what body of water,.... and let him tell you what you need to do since he will be familiar with the body of water that you want to put your boat on.
