canoe registration?

Thought I had seen this in here but went back about a year and didn't find it so here it is...I bought a canoe off eBay that had Indiana registration numbers on it. I took them off but then got to wondering if I needed to get my own regisration for the canoe? Which brings up another question-what kind of boat actually needs to be registered? Thanks

It only needs to be registered if you put a motor on it (gas or electric) and operate on state waterways.
