This is from another post I did not want to hijack, but am curious. GOOD BOY!!William Lewis Douglas, 62, of Portland, Tenn., was fined $1,700 and costs in Allen District Court by Judge Frank Wakefield. He was fined $1000.00 for the bait, $500.00 for not being in control of his grandson’s safety, $200.00 for license violations, lost two shotguns, and his hunting privileges for two years. Just a random question: At what age does a youth have to be in order to carry a shotgun for hunting? And what range is considered 'being in control'? If any child is holding a loaded gun, the adult has no real control, even if only 3 feet away, so I am at a loss here. At what age can a youth hunt deer or turkey from his own stand or ambush position? Myself and much of my friends and family may well have been illegal countless times and never even knew it.

Not sure where this is from, but we do not have a "in control of your grandson's safety" law in Indiana that I am aware of. There is not a minimum hunting age in Indiana..........you must be able to pass hunter education to purchase a license. It is basically at the discretion of the parent whether or not a child is capable of hunting on their own.........(there is that discretion thing again.......except its on you this time, not an officer. Use it wisely). lol!
