The first week of season, I took a doe right before dark on a weekday evening. By the time I got it out of the woods, every check-in station I called was closed. I finally found one on the opposite end of my county, and convinced them to wait after hours for me to arrive. I then convinced a deer processor to also meet me after hours so I could get the it in his walk in cooler.
The processor was pretty confident that I could have just come to his shop straight from the woods, dropped the deer off in his walk-in cooler with a paper tag attached, then come back the next day and take it to a check-in station since you have 48 hours to do so.
Would it have been legal to do so?
