I'd like to try 20ga vs .22 this year...
Anybody want to share a Flight Path/roost?

I love hunting crow. I like using my CZ 17HMR is picking them out of the treetops from 100-150 yards out.

They taste pretty much like any other white meat foul, yes. All you eat is the Breast meat. Easy to clean too: 1. Lay the crow on it's back in front of you with it's head pointed to the right. 2. Take a finger and locate where the breast bone meets the upper abdomen. 3. With a sharp knife, make a cut across the crow (wing to wing) below the breast bone. Don't be concerned about cutting too deep, no edible meat will be damaged with this cut. 4. Holding the birds feet with your left hand, place 2 or 3 fingers under the skin where the cut was made and pull in opposite directions. The skinless breast meat should now be exposed. 5. Take the knife again and separate each breast half away from the bone starting in the middle and working outward. You should end up with 2 lime sized pieces of crow breast. Discard the remains properly. Everything you wanted to know about eating crow is here: crowbusters.com/recipes.htm

Just curious....what would happen if you did this with the crows head pointed to the left?

Left Leaning Crows are vermin and are best left as coyote bait...
Oh, wait, that's Democraps.
Never mind.

I never, ever considering eating crow. Don't know why; just alway thought of them as trash birds. But the way I am shooting I wouldn't get the chance so no worries. Last year shot at a grand total of 6 birds and missed them all.

Maybe I should just hang up the old 17 and maybe all of the other guns too. I shouldn't be shooting anything because they're all just too dangerous... or better yet, maybe I will just use a little common sense when I shoot. Of course I have been shooting firearms for 30 years now so you would think I would know a thing or two. Thanks for the lecture!

No problem for the lecture. Anyone who shoots at treetops with rim or centerfires will get one anytime. I've been shooting for 15 years and learned that day one. Common sense tells me that anyone shooting at treetops with no backstop needs a refresher course. Take this as constructive criticism. It may save a life someday.

No more hunting them squirrels with your trusty ol rimfires. If it's up to this guy it will be sling-shot only. You've been here 1 month and making friends fast !?!? Maybe you should go join a knitting board.

Are you saying don't squirrel hunt with a .22? Why are people jumping down this guys throat over this? He could just as easily come back asking you if you are saying it doesn't matter where it goes with 22 or a 17. He's just putting out common sense. Know what the heck is beyond what you are shooting at. 17 or 50 cal, it's still a gun and personally, I don't want to get hit with it or get my buildings hit with it. These are guns not toys. If you are shooting in to a tree top it takes a heck of a lot more "knowing where it's going" than it does shooting in to a dirt hill side. It's been a race every day for two weeks to beat the crows to what ever cherries got ripe that day and 3 days ago they just finnished every single one in a single day, ripe or not. Believe me, I've been shooting in a tree top. You can also believe I made darn sure I was set up on an angle where there was nothing but other trees I owned behind it and there is just about only room for one lawn chair and still put a shot between my own house and my own barn in to my own wooded hill side behind it. Hunting needs more people with some common sense and the nerve to call a spade a spade. The ones that are left don't need a beat down for doing the job every one should be doing.

Sounds like you two should band together and try to get squirrel hunting, duck hunting or any kind of hunting where you shoot upwards banned all together. Neither of you have a clue!

Thanks Jack. Not sure why these two are fighting me on this. When I shoot at squirrels I make sure there is a backing for the bullet to hit like a tree trunk or other trees behind. Now this guy is shooting at tree tops where these bullets will keep going and hit a house or worst yet small child. I'm very surprised at Woodys response.

You are simply making assumptions on how and where I hunt. How do you know if the tree tops I shoot into are not at the base of a large hill in which the backstop to the tree tops is dirt? The fact is, you do not know anything about what I am doing yet you want to attack another hunter without having any true knowledge of what they are doing. We don't need people of your kind on our hunting forums. It is people like you who cause problems for all of us hunters.
You might think you are something to be able to step foot into this forum after 20 days and start preaching to members who have been here for a long. Like I said before, join a knitting board because you have no business being a member of the hunting community. I wish Woody had an ignore feature in this forum because you would be member # 1 of my ignore list.

Your post says otherwise and makes you sound like a dangerous hunter(150-200 yds at treetops ) . Ignore me all you want but I'm here to stay. This is a public forum, so like it our not I have an opinion as do you. I can' t help if you chose to complain.

This is a public forum, so like it our not I have an opinion as do you. I can' t help if you chose to complain. No actually my post does not say either way. You just chose to assume! And you need to reread my original post because you have quoted the yards I was shooting incorrectly. But them maybe your intentions are to post nonfactual information. And for your information, I do live on a very large hill and have a valley directly behind my house that is very deep. The tree tops in this valley are way below the grade of my back yard. When I shoot from my back yard the angle will send the bullet directly towards the ground not more than 200 yards away. Not that it really matters because you are obviously one who doesn't care about facts, only what you assume the truth to be.
