What I think we have here is a mis-communication. That happens quite fequently on forums. No one is saying shoot up in the air and don't worry about where the bullet may land. When I squirrel hunt I will use a .22... but I "bark them".

When I squirrel hunt I will use a .22... but I "bark them". Just like no one said, "Harley is a dangerous hunter". Somebody said it was dangerous and you, me, people, who ever should be careful or extra careful if they still choose to do it. I'm saying it too. I'll tell ya something else, shooting crows off the end of a branch is a completely different proposition from shooting squirrels off the trunk. The most telling thing in the thread is how quick some people's own concience get's their wind all up over it. Luck it good but it doesn't last for ever. The worst luck is when you are the losing end when some one else's luck runs out, wether it runs out the first time or they get away with it for 30 years. The funny thing is how different people feel about these kind of things depending on exactly how far they are pulling these stunts from their own home and family.

Why are people jumping down this guys throat over this? He could just as easily come back asking you if you are saying it doesn't matter where it goes with 22 or a 17. He's just putting out common sense. Know what the heck is beyond what you are shooting at. 17 or 50 cal, it's still a gun and personally, I don't want to get hit with it or get my buildings hit with it. These are guns not toys. If you are shooting in to a tree top it takes a heck of a lot more "knowing where it's going" than it does shooting in to a dirt hill side. It's been a race every day for two weeks to beat the crows to what ever cherries got ripe that day and 3 days ago they just finnished every single one in a single day, ripe or not. Believe me, I've been shooting in a tree top. You can also believe I made darn sure I was set up on an angle where there was nothing but other trees I owned behind it and there is just about only room for one lawn chair and still put a shot between my own house and my own barn in to my own wooded hill side behind it. Hunting needs more people with some common sense and the nerve to call a spade a spade. The ones that are left don't need a beat down for doing the job every one should be doing. Sounds like you two should band together and try to get squirrel hunting, duck hunting or any kind of hunting where you shoot upwards banned all together. Neither of you have a clue! Ya can't ban stupid any more than you can fix it. All you can do is hold stupid accountable when their luck runs out.
