First of all, UDZ allows hunters to harvest up to 4 antlerless deer, or 3 antlerless deer and 1 antlered deer, by use of EXTRA ARCHERY licenses only. This is in addition to all other bag limits. During the regular archery season (10-1 to 11-30), you can hunt the UDZ with archery or bonus licenses, but the antlerless deer taken WILL count toward your bonus antlerless county quota (ex. Lake Co. is a 4). If want to shoot a second antlered deer, bow hunt from 9-15 to 9-30, and/or take more than 4 antlerless deer in your county during the reg. season, then you will have to purchase extra archery licenses to hunt and take those deer in your UDZ. Discounts apply to only bonus licenses. Thanks. OK, I think I understand... #1: I need "Extra" permits in September. Makes sense. #2: If I shot a Buck at any other point, except under an "Extra" permit, then I need an "extra" to shoot another buck (up to one more). Got that. And the "important" one for me: #3: I do NOT need "Extra" permits to hunt UDZ areas during Regular or Late Archery - and can shoot up to my Tag Limit under Bonus Rules, but any more than that requires "Extra" tags (up to 4). i.e. I could have used a regular "bonus" tag for my Michigan City Christmas Doe rather than the "Extra Archery" tag I bought (Better safe than sorry) and since I am working with the Property Managers to specifically cull Does, it makes more sense for me to use Bonus tags first/when in season. Correct?
