This is my first attempt at any kind of taxidermy. This year on my last muzzle loader hunt i took a doe and decided to give it a try. I had my troubles, especially with fleshing with only a knife and scalpel, but I got it done. I have not finished painted the ears or the nose, inside or out. I do not have an airbrush yet but plan on getting one real soon. I thought since some of you are taxidermist and I'm sure most of you are hunters you wouldn't mind taking a look and giving me your opinion. I hope to start doing this for some extra cash, someday, when I feel I'm good enough. I appreciate all comment good or bad. Let me have it. The more I learn the better I will become. ]

Looks pretty lifelike to me. VERY good for a first effort. I'm sure some some of the boys can give you pointers.

If you really want to know some pointers go to www.taxidermy.net and post in that forum. But you have better have thick skin because they can be brutal. I think you did a fantastic job but I am not a professional taxidermist like they are.

Excellent first attempt! I'm no pro or expert, but I think you may have a tad too much ear base clay...especially on the doe's left ear (right side in the photo). It looks a bit bulky in that area or perhaps the base needs to be move slightly upwards. schall is right, post it on taxidermy.net and those guys will give you detail critiques.... Keep at it!
