Cougar

I read your response to the guy who asked the question about whether or not he could kill a bear if he saw one. There have been many cougar sightings (at least reports of sightings) in my area in the last few months. Would your answer to the killing of a bear be the same if it is a cougar that is spotted? Would I have to be defending myself, or could I just go ahead & take it?
