One of the cemeteries that I take care of (same one that Danf and his wife just redid the headstones for) is having a major groundhog problem. For many years there had been people next door to it with a garden and I think that they may have kept the population in check.
Now however the surrounding ground was bought and has a Menards store on it. That is the other problem that is causing me to use the Gamo. I just don't feel comfortable with anything over a pellet gun being that close to a commercial area.
I went out tonight and resighted it to zero at 25 yards and got it to three shots in a dime. I was curious about what kind of range this Gamo "Big Cat" had so I moved out to 50 yards. The next three shots were within a quarter and down about 2"...I don't think that is too bad. We had some weather moving in so the wind may have had a little effect too.
I'll see how it goes in the AM and maybe I can have some not so graphic pics of some population reduction.

Was over there at 0630 figuring that I would catch 'em when they woke up. There is a huge burr oak in one corner that has 7-8 holes within 25 yards of it so that is where I sat up and waited...and waited.........and waited.........and waited.... squirrels, chipmunks have been through so many times that I have them named.....and waited.........I was only going to stay until 0900 because I had some other things that had to be done.....finally about 0850 a big one pops up on his hind legs and looks my direction........from the other corner of the cemetery about 60 yards away-GGGGGRRRRRR!!!!!! Finally gave up and went home. Maybe I can get some time to get back over this afternoon if I'm not down Newtown way
