last week i was driving from Indiana to Illinois. I live right around the State line. While driving I came across a lady pulled off the road in Illinois and a giant whitetail buck had been hit and was dead. Illinois law says if the person who hit the deer doesn't want it anyone can take the deer as long as they document the time and date of the accident. No Game Warden is neccessary to issue a permit..Had I taken that deer and brought it to my home in Indiana would I be breaking any kind of laws in Indiana?Do I need a permit from Indiana to take roadkill from Illinois to Indiana.

The burden of proof would be yours to prove that you legally obtained the deer in IL.
