I have an oppurtunity to hunt yotes this weekend in Ky on a buddies 80 acres along the Ohio river.
He dumped the remains of three does there this past weekend and he's seen the yotes feeding on them.
Will they still respond to calling w/ all this food presently available? or should I simply hunt the bait w/ no calling or should one still call?
Thanks

Hunt the bait pile if they are coming to it. Otherwise try calling from another location.

you could use a group of yotes type call with the bait and possibly get better results

just sit on the pile downwind and hunt, no need to call...if you call you alert them and they come in downwind looking, if they come at all...hunt that bait pile early mornings and evenings..no calling, they already know the carcass is there...you'll just make them suspicious with calling IMO.

hunt the pile and dont try calling. Those deer are a buffet to them and they aren't going to leave it unless you have one awesome sounding call and they are very interested. hunt the pile and if none show up then try calling with a distressed fawn call possbily and they might come running thinking theres more fresh deer meat for them

Thanks for the advice. I think Ridgerunner and bramer89 hit it on the heads as far as not calling and just hunting the bait.
Unfortunatley I did not see any yotes on Sat night. The land ownwer told me that they basically only move under the cover of darkness and in Ky you can no longer hunt them at night.
I appreciate the fact that we can hunt them at night here in Indiana. Too bad the bait pile wasn't here.

put trail cams on bait piles 95% of the time they hit it in the middle of the nite

The bait will be good for holding those coyotes in the area. They will hit the bait at night, but will lay up nearby during the day. I would slip in downwind of the bait late in the day or just at first light, and set up and call. Most likely they'll be within hearing of your call and come in.
