wanted to know about which type (electronic or mouth caller) that some might recommend. Also brand name.. #2 question how successful you have been with it. Right now i have a mouth caller and a small battery (hand held) and neither seem to work for me. I am leading toward buying the Prairie Blaster. thanks for reading

I've used both mouth calls and electronics, and have had success with both. My favorite mouth call is a simple Primos closed reed that costs about $7.00. Only issue with it is it will freeze up when it's below freezing. I've used some various open reeds from Primos such as the little dog, and they also work well but require more practice. They don't freeze up like a closed reed call will. My electronic call is a Foxpro FX3. It has 32 sounds and is remote operated. This call works well and I would recommend it without hesitation. I also had a Foxpro 416 B. This call had 16 sounds and was also remote operated. It worked well also. I believe a Prairie Blaster is a top of the line caller and would work very well. It is large and would be difficult to carry around. A 416 B can be purchased used for about $175.00, and would make a good entry level electronic caller. An FX3 can be picked up for around $350. I believe a Prairie Blaster is about double an FX3 in cost.

My mouth caller is a lead dog brand and yeah the prairie is costly. But I am looking for it to be LOUD. It has 120db and bells and whistles. But with my mouth caller I've not had any luck.

Any Randy Anderson mouth caller and one of my favorites is a Lohman Circe. I've called in dogs with both. I only hunt daytime also...I sleep at night.
