Have seen on another site, one of the Stakeholders making negative comments about folks passing on deer. Our youths didn't pass on nothing, shooting the first they saw each time, be it buck or doe. We ended up with 2 yearling bucks and one healthy 2.5 year old doe. We had a good time and the kids diid as well, even though not all of them had success. The farmer was happy that we reduced the deer munchers some what. And we made some meat. All three of the deer that the kids killed will be mount up for display, so they were trophies in the eyes of the beholder. Congrats to those that got r done and good luck later to those that still have tags left.

I never heard one kid say anything at all about "holding out for a buck". They were all happy to be just deer hunting. Those two yearling bucks that were dropped were a mere drop in the bucket to the resident deer population.
All three were well earned "trophies".

They are there ....but the lucks gotta be with you! I wouldn't have asked for anything more than the doe we got. I hunt trophy bucks, but I've killed more than my share before I ever thought about being a stewart to QDM. It's something you have to embrace....not something that can be forced upon you! What I saw this weekend was absolutely QDM "Quality Deer-hunter Mentoring", and all the adults need to be commended for it. Every kid in that camp came home with a trophy, and a few of them came home with some supper. The 2 that didn't get to bring theirs home have just as memorable story as those who did. More importantly they learned major valuable lessons that I am sure they will carry with them the rest of their lives. There are big deer are on that property, one was seen over the weekend, but the trophies of hunting are measured in far deeper levels than "inches" of bone. If only we could get some of the hunting celebrities to learn that lesson we would gain a flood of new young hunters for our future.
