Long story short!!
a guy was being watched by a CO on the property I hunt, he was being watched due to the fact there was a salt block a few short yards from his tree-stand and this guy had no permission to hunt there.
Bottom Line is, late Oct the salt block was removed, the CO caught the guy on the stand, not only trespassing but hunting W/O a license..soil likely still contaminated from salt.
Now this guy is telling everyone in town the CO wrote him a ticket for trespassing a mere $135 fine....shouldnt the guy had faced other charges as well...hunting over contaminated soil, hunting without a license, trespassing....Thats 3 strikes in my book...The guy should of had his hunting privileges taken away.
Now comes opening weekend of the firearm season, No CO looking over the once baited site....and I'll be darned if the guy or his family member came back in and shot a 220" deer ...again trespassing, contaminated soil nearby, heck maybe even without a license who knows....bottom line is If this had been me or anyone else we would be in deep crap and most likely lost everything we once had...Everyone who knows what happened is frustrated with the fact the guy was not made an example of.
Whats wrong with this picture???

First of all, I will not question the decision made by another Officer. I wasn' t there so I don't know all the circumstances involved. I can safely assume that you were not standing next to the Officer either when this occurred, which makes all the stories floating around the neighborhood and internet merely heresay. I understand your frustration, as I would be absolutely furious as well if indeed it occurred as you have stated. Maybe the Officer has no knowledge that the offender returned to the same stand and killed this deer. Makes me wonder why the Officer was not called back to the property if someone knew he was in there illegally. Nonetheless, I don't have an answer for you. It would be best to contact the Officer involved through our South Region Office...812-837-9536
