Got this one a few weeks ago, but just got the pics dumped on my computer. Story goes: 2nd stand. Wind is from the south. I am on the west side of a large picked bean field. Cow pasture is about 400 yards south. The field is about 200 yards wide, but the field has a little roll and I can only see about 140 yards before the it dives into the opposite woods. Spitfire is about 40 yards upwind. I started out with the a jackrabbit distress at 3. I'm not sure about the coyotes, but I really like that call. It really sounds like something is getting murdered. I increased the volume to 5 over about 10 minutes, then decreased to 1 and then mute. In about 10 more minutes, I see the coyote trotting north just over the crest of the roll in the field. I can actually only see from about his hocks up. He stops a few times and glances at the call. I finally can get the cross hairs on him and make the shot. I am pretty sure that he is down, because I heard the familiar, "thump" of bullet striking flesh. But I cannot see if he is down due to the roll in the field. I hit the coyote pup distress on the spitfire to try to catch any trailers. After about 2 minutes, I can't take it anymore and have to go make sure he is down. DRT. I am shooting a CZ550 American in .243win with a Leupold 6-18x44 VXII. I LOVE the CZ. The single set trigger is AWESOME. Load is a 65gr VMax on 39 grains of Varget. Should be close to 3500fps.
