Just curious what everybody is using for coyotes. I am using, or trying to use (haven't scored yet), a Remington 700 CDL chambered in .243 topped with a nikon prostaff scope, and shooting winchester 55 gr. silver tips.

I use my .308 or .270. Last Coyote I shot was some 250 yards out and I got him with my .308 loaded with a Sierra 150 gr. BTSP. Your .243 would be ideal for Coyotes.

Funny thing, I shot at a Coyote yesterday in late afternoon. But the Sun was in my eyes to the point that I didn't get a good shot so I missed. The Coyote was around 150 yards away.

I have a CZ550 American in .243 winchester sporting a 6-18x Leupold VXII. My load is a 65 grain Hornday Vmax on top of 39 grains of Varget. The CZ single set trigger is AWESOME.

I use a couple different rifles for coyotes. For open field edge calling, where I may get long range shots, I usually hunt with either my Remington 700 SPS stainless in .22-250, or my 700 BDL in .243 Winchester. If I'll be doing a bit of walking, I like to carry my Remington 700 Mountain Guide stainless in .243. If I'll be calling where shots will be a bit closer, I like to use an AR-15 platform rifle. In an AR I have a self built Rock River upper chambered in 6.8 SPC. I used a stainless Bison Armory 16" recon profile barrel over a Rock River lower fitted with a Timney trigger group and a Magpul collapsable stock. I handload all of my hunting ammunition. In .22-250, I load 55 grain Sierra Game Kings at 3500 FPS. I load 85 grain Sierra Game Kings at 3050 FPS in my .243's and 90 grain Sierra Varminters at 2900 FPS from my 6.8 SPC AR.
