Finding those travel runs is the key. I've got a few of those double hoop style traps and they've worked for me when I set 'em in the travel runs. I'll get 1/2 dz. moles a year here. There are a few travel runs that they use year after year and I usually set a trap in those. After the first year I ended up putting a flag by the trap. They don't work so good after going thru the blades on the riding mower...... I wasn't happy after I ran the first one over, and decided I had to do something after I hit the 3rd one. Remembering they were out there just wasn't working!

Post hole digger... i just sit out in the lawn chair drinking my lemonaid and wait till they start moving late in the afternoon. People probably think my glass has something else in it.. LOL.. When I see them moving I sneak up on them and slam the digger in the ground and then pull them out.. That one you got is a female... the females are twice the size of the males... I put down some stuff that I got at wormsway a couple years ago that was supposed to get rid of the grubs but guess it didn't work. Last year was my worst year yet. Most the time I would get one here or there but last year was like a party in my yard... If you treat you might want to ask your neighbors and treat their yards too. Cause the moles don't know where you started treating at... BB

Mole are hard to kill. The secrete is to find their main run tunnel and see if they are using it on a daily basis and then set the Victor Traps on that run. Start by pressing the raised earth down with your foot and watch the area the next few days to see if the ground is raised back up as the moles make a run though that tunnel. If you see lots of activity in this run that's the spot to put the traps. Before you set the trap in place make sure that you step on the tunnel and flaten the roof down level so that the mole has to push though this area to get by. Set the Victor spring trap over this hole while it's set and the locking pin is in place. Push it down until the trip pan is just touching the top of the earth. Now pull out the lock pin and hope that the moles come though your trap tunnel. I have killed a few moles this way but there have been times when they avoid the trap or the trap has not worked. But from the research I have done on trying to get rid of moles these are the best way to kill the moles. I've even taken to sitting out in the yard in a law chair after a rain and watching for mole activity and then running out with a pitch fork to kill the little buggers. They are fast little things when they make a run though the tunnel. Lots of the tunnel are just side tunnels that are not used every day. They also have some deep tunnels that don't show the tunnel from the surface and so it's hard to get rid of all the moles in a yard. I'd get rid of the moles in my yard but they would multiply over in my neighbors yard and eventually get back into my yard. They eat the grubs in your yard and if you kill all these grubs in the soil the mole will go feed else where. It may take a while to kill all the grubs in the soil with pesticides in order to get rid of the moles. I've lived in my house since 92' and had absolutely no mole problem until last year. This spring my entire yard is covered with runs. Last summer I bought some of the victor style spear traps and never could get any of them. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I bet I have had the trap triggered 30 times and no moles. I just bought some of the trapline brand mole traps. Got them put in the ground yesterday. Hopefully these will start getting them. If this doesn't work. I think I am going to open up a section of the run and put a mouse trap in there and just put a board over the top of it. Have any of you guys had success with killing moles?

Had good luck with the spear traps myself. Got 2 new ones in from Lowes this spring for $7 each and taken 3 moles. No more signs of them yet this year but when they come back I will be ready! years ago I tried those Nash Loop traps and never did any good with those things. I have heard that those sicsor traps are pretty effective too just never have seen any for sale when I was looking!

When he was working as a heavy equipment mechanic and had access to it my dad would fill the runs with acetylene and light them off.

All I had to do was borrow a trap from the FIL and all my moles vacated. The neighbor borrowed the trap from me and now neither of us have any moles! We never did even have the traps thrown.

A good mole killing Black Lab is hard to beat. I may get a mole every now and then, but they don't last long !!! We had moles when we first built our house. After we got settled in and got a mutt black lab, we rarely see a mole. Last summer I saw her catch two within about 10 minutes, another time I saw her catch three moles within 15 minutes!
